Sam Smith has announced that their next single is titled "To Die For," and it's arriving this week. The track will be released Friday (February 14) on Valentine's Day.
A press release describes the upcoming song as a "soothing, heartfelt ballad." Apparently, "To Die For," opens with a sample from Donnie Darko, which is then swept away with strings and piano.
"Releasing this song is going to be a wild one — I feel like it's from one of the deepest parts of me," Smith said in a statement. "I wrote this with Jimmy Napes and Stargate in L.A. during a time of self-discovery and heartbreak. This is for all the lonely hearts out there on another Valentine's Day xx."
Prior to "To Die For," Smith's most recent singles were a cover of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" with Disclosure and "Dancing with a Stranger" featuring Normani.
Their last full-length album was 2017's The Thrill of It All.
