Toronto-based DJ and producer Sara Simms released her cover of Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" nearly two years ago, but her latest track takes things in a different direction.
It hears her teaming up with R&B singer DESIIRE, fusing her techno turntablism background and his sultry, emotive vocals — singing about the heartache of a relationship that's losing its spark.
"When your heart can't wait for love that doesn't come, feelings fade," the pair tell Exclaim! "This song's not about moving on or fixing the problem. It's about a love story that didn't unfold the way you thought it would and there's nothing you can do. Except watch it fade."
The single will be officially released on January 15 via Simmetry Sounds, but you can hear the exclusive premiere of "Fading" right now. Hit play below.
