While she's known for her vocal talents, SassyBlack (a.k.a. Cat Harris-White) is letting her production skill shine on a new five-track EP, which you can hear in its entirety right now.
Titled Sumthin Special, the instrumental release was produced, mixed and mastered by Harris-White at Space Theory Studios. While plans have been made to record vocals over the beats, Harris-White is more than content to let the instrumentals "just float through the world" for now.
"I often question myself about my skills and talents (like most of us do), but then I remember — I do it because I love music and I love the process," she wrote in a press release. "Sumthin Special is full of fun, funky, weird beats I've composed over a 30 day beat challenge I initiated in 2014 called 'Space Daze Beats Craze,' that show a side of myself that I have worked in the past to hide. Now that I relish my entire being, I'm ready to release them on a larger scale."
Along with the EP, Harris-White has also shared a self-directed and produced video for "Make It Trippaye." Take in Sumthin Special in the player below.
