Savages Announce Debut LP 'Silence Yourself'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 19, 2013

UK post-punk outfit Savages perked ears in 2012 with their debut 7-inch and the live EP I Am Here, but the band are thinking big this year, having just formally announced their debut album, Silence Yourself. The LP arrives May 7 in North America and a day earlier in Europe through Matador/Pop Noire.

A press release notes Silence Yourself was tracked at London's Fish Factory with producers Johnny Hostile and Rodaidh McDonald in December 2012, and allegedly features "eleven tracks that are uncompromising and delivered with fierce conviction." On top of the unheard material, the record contains newly recorded versions of previously released tracks "Husbands," "I Am Here" and "City's Full."

You can sample the dark and spiky post-punk freak-out "She Will" in the player down below. Pre-orders for the LP start tonight (March 19) and will come with an immediate MP3 download of "She Will."

Savages also have some North American tour dates on the horizon, with two previously announced Canadian stops scheduled in Toronto this week. You can see the quartet's North American show schedule down below, and their upcoming international dates over here.
