Saya Gray Stuns at NPR Tiny Desk Concert

If you don't like her now, you probably will later

As someone who has been incapable of shutting up about Saya Gray since 2022, I'm thrilled to see so many people on the internet joining me as of late with the release of SAYA to critical acclaim last month. Serendipitously, the Toronto-raised artist has also now made her solo debut — she previously played the series as Daniel Caesar's bassist in 2018 — at NPR's famously colourful and cramped offices for a Tiny Desk concert.

With a tight backing band consisting of her brother Lucian Gray (guitar), John Mavro (drums, bass and guitar) Ace G (keys and background vocals), Kola Rai (background vocals) and Taj Sapp (background vocals), the singer-songwriter/producer performed three songs from the new LP, as well as a track from her 2022 mixtape 19 MASTERS.

"Most important musical discovery for me this year," someone wrote in the YouTube comments. Make Gray yours, too; check out the stunning four-song set below, as well as Exclaim!'s recent interview with her.
