Scarlett Johansson hasn't released an album since her 2009 collaboration with Pete Yorn, but the Hollywood star has kept up her musical career with occasional one-off tracks. Her latest song is a collaboration with 3D of trip-hop vets Massive Attack, which comes from the soundtrack for the film Days of Grace.
The pair teamed up for a cover of "Summertime" by George Gershwin. They gave it an extremely creepy makeover, as eerie drones give way to hauntingly distant vocals and it eventually turns into a skulking, fuzz-laden rock song.
This is a lot more unsettling than Johannson's previous version of "Summertime," which appeared on the 2006 album Unexpected Dreams - Songs from the Stars. (It's worth noting that this appears to be a complete re-recording, rather than a remix, since it's in a different key.)
Days of Grace is set to arrive in theatres on June 13. The soundtrack is now available digitally via Lakeshore Records.
UPDATE: The track has now been removed but you can check out some preview clips from the soundtrack here.
