School of Seven Bells Ready Debut Album, Tour With M83

As previously reported, new Secret Machines/On!Air!Library! offshoot School of Seven Bells are gearing up to lend those M83 shoegazers some tour support. And since we all know tours and record releases go hand in hand, the NYC three-piece have announced they’ve inked a deal with renowned Michigan imprint Ghostly International, who will be dropping some long-awaited School of Seven Bells releases this fall.

On September 16, the label will release the seven-inch/digital single "Half Asleep/Caldo,” with School of Seven Bells debut full-length, Alpinisms, coming October 28. These follow a string of celebrated singles and compilation tracks by the band, which are made of ex-Secret Machines guitar man Benjamin Curtis and twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza of the now-defunct On!Air!Library!. They also follow a remix by Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie, who reportedly is a self-professed fan, and a collaboration with Prefuse 73, with whom they recorded the track "The Class of 73 Bells.”

Before lining up their current tour with M83, School of Seven Bells last year joined the touring forces of Prefuse 73 and Blonde Redhead, who at one point also took Curtis’s old Secret Machines on the road as well.
