Shelby

The Luxury of Time

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Sep 1, 2005

Although New York City’s Shelby consist of only two members, they make up for band mates with impressive musical resumes and dreamy indie rock arrangements. Opening track "The Golden Boy” is the band in a nutshell: intricate percussion, gloomy vocals and shoegazer guitar melodies. The CD is wonderfully packaged with an uncomplicated yet attention-grabbing design. Some tracks on the disc are clearly stronger than others (a weaker track being the lacklustre finale of "Let it Be Me”) but on a whole this album is catchy and completely accessible indie rock. Fans of the Dears or My Bloody Valentine should definitely consider a listen.
