The sound is called "acid-croft," and it comes from Scotland. Meant to be a hybrid of traditional Celtic sound and Chemical Brothers electronica, it's the soundtrack to a Saint Paddy's Day party on E and hallucinogens - a trippy, fiddle and mandolin inspired experience that will take you from Glasgow to Karachi and parts in between. A strong element of the traditional - of several types far beyond dreary Scotland - blends nicely with the modern taste for the experimental studio work. This remains, nevertheless, a Celtic album, never straying too far beyond the cultural boundaries of Hadrian's Wall.
