Sid Meier's Pirates!

PSP

Pirates! is a PSP port of a 2004 PC game and 2005 Xbox title that were both based on gaming guru Sid Meier's 1987 classic. But whatevs – age ain't nothing but a number when the setting is the 17th century. The game is an open-ended sandbox (waterbox?) strategy adventure in which you live the life of a plundering pirate and/or government-sponsored privateer. As captain, you'll play through a series of mini-games to recruit crews, trade goods, attack ships, swordfight on and off the high seas, hunt for treasure on tropical islands and otherwise wreak havoc across the blue Caribbean. Oh, and you may want to learn a few dance moves, too, because the governor's daughter is kinda hot. Given that Johnny Depp's pirate sequel was last year's most popular film, there's likely a lot of wannabe swashbucklers just waiting to hit the pixilated high seas. Luckily, unlike that movie, Pirates! won't make you want to walk the plank.
