Each New Day is a sunny, good-natured blend of reggae, afro-pop and soft rock. The band have won many fans via their harmless, gentle grooves, no doubt augmented by the sometimes soulful interplay between the lead male and female vocals. Tracks such as the instrumental "E-Fumo, with its strong African percussion influence and dreamy, textured guitars and horns, or the playful "Potholes show just what kind of heights this band are capable of. Occasionally though, the band overindulges, such as on bleeding heart power ballad "Hanshin Tigers (the only lyrics being that the aforementioned tigers are "ichiban, or "number one), which perhaps betrays a misspent youth listening to 80s hair bands and backpacking through Japanese zoos.
