Sinéad O'Connor

<a href="https://exclaim.ca/artists/sinead_oconnor">Sinéad O'Connor</a> has announced that her 17-year-old son Shane has died by suicide.<br>

He had been missing since Thursday, and was reportedly last seen on Friday morning. Police confirmed the news of his death on Saturday [via <em><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jan/08/son-of-sinead-oconnor-dies-at-age-of-17-after-going-missing">The Guardian</a></em>].<br>

Sinéad O'Connor tweeted the following in response to the tragic news:<br>

Sinéad has blamed "the Irish State" for her son's death. She wrote that he "was on suicide watch" in hospital when he went missing, and that "hospital of course so far refusing to take any responsibility."<br>
