One of the most devastating losses in recent music history was the death of singer and activist Sinéad O'Connor in 2023. Details about her will, which include her wishes regarding any future posthumous releases of her music, have now been revealed.
According to The Sun, O'Connor has instructed her children to share her unreleased music: "I direct them after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released so as to 'milk it for what it's worth.'"
In 2021, O'Connor told People in an interview about her memoir Rememberings that she had instructed her children to take control over any potential posthumous releases of her music. "Make sure the record companies don't start releasing my records and not telling you where the money is."
In addition, O'Conner left £1.7 million of her estate to her children. O'Connor also named her ex-husband, music producer John Reynolds as the executor of her will.
O'Connor was found dead in her London home in 2023. It was later determined that her cause of death was due to a chronic pulmonary disease and asthma.
Since her death, the artist has been honoured with a commemorative stamp in her native Ireland.
