Sinergy

The revolving door line-up of Sinergy now features a veritable "who's who?" of Finnish metal, including the twin guitar leads of Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) and former Waltari member Roope Latvala. Together, these two give a totally convincing performance that in many respects outstrips the remaining members of the band, led by vocalist Kimberley Goss (ex-Therion, Dimmu Borgir, Ancient). Also joining them is Tarot vocalist/bassist Marco Hietala and Tommi Lillman (To/Die/For) on drums. The first two Sinergy releases were okay, but also a little on the cheesy side. This new one, on the other hand, is how extreme melodic power metal should be done. Well-executed duelling guitar solos with a powerful "in your face” crunch and strong female vocals make for a superb listening experience. These are well-crafted songs with hooky melodies and a guitar tandem that can now compete with the Arch Enemy’s Amott brothers.
