Composed of former and current players from the acclaimed Canadian indie folk group Great Lake Swimmers, Siskiyou are preparing to release their second LP Keep Away the Dead next week, but you can stream the full album now.
With the record ready to go, less than a year since the release of their self-titled debut, the band spent the year hard at work recording with Dave Carswell (Destroyer, New Pornographers) in Vancouver. The original lineup featured former Swimmer Colin Huebert and current GLS member Erik Arnesen. For Keep Away the Dead, however, the duo has been joined by Shaunn Watt and Peter Carruthers.
According to a press release, the album "ramps things up with subtle care and clarity, yielding something closer to a rural gothic novella in spirit and scope," and ultimately becomes "a strikingly cold-eyed, tender-hearted song cycle, marked by quiet defiance and desperation."
