Siskiyou 'Keep Away the Dead' with New Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 14, 2011

Last year, current and former Great Lake Swimmers members Erik Arnesen and Colin Huebert teamed up to form Siskiyou, releasing their top-notch self-titled debut. Now, less than a year since we first reported on the group's existence, they've expanded to a quartet and announced their sophomore effort.

With the addition of Shaunn Watt and Peter Carruthers, Siskiyou recorded Keep Away the Dead earlier this year with Dave Carswell (Destroyer, New Pornographers) at his JC/DC Studio in Vancouver.

According to a press release, the album "ramps things up with subtle care and clarity, yielding something closer to a rural gothic novella in spirit and scope. The album is a strikingly cold-eyed, tender-hearted song cycle, marked by quiet defiance and desperation."

Constellation will release Keep Away the Dead on October 4. The album will be available on CD or 180-gram vinyl, both of which will maintain the label's high standard in quality, heavy-paper packaging.

Album track "Twigs and Stones" can be streamed below or downloaded here. The group also recently released a music video for "Never Ever Ever Ever Again" from their self-titled debut. The video can be viewed over in our Click Hear section.
