Adding to an already disturbing trend, 16 people were hospitalized during a Skrillex show at Chicago's Navy Pier on Saturday (October 18), according to NBC Chicago.

An EMS source claims that majority of the cases were for drug overdoses. A Navy Pier spokesman confirmed that 16 attendees were transported to area hospitals during the event, but would not comment on the use of drugs at the venue.

"We're there for people who haven't been smart, and safety is number one," said CrowdRX president Andrew Bazos, whose company oversees safety for the show's promoter.

When asked about the younger demographic turning up at EDM events, he responded: "If their parents were there, they would have gone home with their parents. It's not fair to make the promoter take care of kids who don't know how to behave. ... They're young, and they're often irresponsible."

More than 10,000 people were in attendance at the concert. Earlier this year, 29 people were sent to hospital for illnesses related to drug and alcohol during Avicii's show at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
