With Aes, Finnish outfit Skepticism continue to make some of the most depressing doom metal ever recorded. Containing only one 27-minute piece, the album may be one of the slowest metal epics ever recorded. Built on a foundation of droning, under-produced, monotonous guitars, augmented by continuous cymbal crashes and a somewhat muted sounding church organ, the track is a testament for the faithful. It is something only a true doom head could fully understand and enjoy, because if you do not love it you will abhor every last second contained within. No two ways around it.
