Slipknot Announce Canadian Dates

BY Keith CarmanPublished Mar 9, 2009

Apparently Canadian heavy metal fans aren't a bunch of jerky downloaders. They still pay respects - and cash - for music. Reaching platinum status (100,000 albums sold) is a tough go in the current musical climate yet Iowa natives/bemasked metal horde Slipknot have managed to do so in Canada with latest effort All Hope Is Gone.

Coincidentally, this fifth album is released exactly one decade after their eponymous full-length debut. That's two reasons to celebrate, so Slipknot have announced they're bringing the party to the masses with a string of Eastern Canadian tour dates. The shows will be Slipknot's first headlining stint in the Great White North since 2004 and the band are fired up at all these excuses for revelry.

"2009 is the ten-year anniversary of the world's first taste of this band. To celebrate, we are coming back out with a killer tour, a couple great bands and the same ferocity with which we attack life," relates vocalist Corey Taylor. "We want all of our maggots to come and celebrate with us, because if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have been here for ten years. Get ready for chaos!"

To coincide with the tour, the band have also launched a new website, which will host all pre-sale and onsale information.

Tour dates are as follows:

4/28 Quebec City, QC - Pavillon de la Jeunesse
4/29 Montreal, QC - Bell Centre
5/1 Toronto, ON - Ricoh Coliseum
5/2 London, ON - John Labbatt Centre
