Two years removed from Smith Westerns' Exclaim!-approved sophomore set Dye It Blonde, the Chicago janglers have announced their follow-up. The troupe's third LP is titled Soft Will, and it arrives June 11 via their new label home Mom + Pop.
A press release notes that following the massive push behind Dye It Blonde, the band spent the spring and summer months of 2012 crafting their latest collection. The record re-teamed the Windy City trio with producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), with recording sessions beginning at El Paso, TX's Sonic Ranch last August. Additional recording was done around New York and Chicago.
Soft Will's flowery closing cut "Varsity" serves as the first single, and you can sample the song in the stream down below, beneath the tracklisting and some U.S. tour dates. "Varsity" will be delivered on iTunes March 12 and on 7-inch vinyl March 14, accompanied by B-side "Case & Point."
