Snoop Dogg has apologized to television host Gayle King, after lashing out at her over an interview about the late Kobe Bryant.
King interviewed former WNBA player Lisa Leslie last week, and at one point, asked if the 2004 rape allegations against Bryant would taint his legacy.
King was met with backlash by those who felt it was disrespectful to bring up the sexual assault allegations against Bryant while his family and fans were still grieving his death. Snoop Dogg prominently participated in the vitriol hurled towards King.
In a video, the rapper called King a "funky dog head bitch" and told her to "back off bitch before we come get you."
Now, he has apologized for his comments, after having a talk with his own mother.
In a new video, he's admitted that he "overreacted."
"Gayle King, I publicly tore you down by coming at you in a derogatory manner based off of emotions, me being angry at questions that you asked," he said. "I should have handled it way different than that. I was raised way better than that. So I would like to apologize to you publicly for the language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful."
Snoop continued: "I didn't mean for it to be like that. I was just expressing myself for a friend that wasn't here to defend himself. A lot of people look up to me and they love me and they appreciate me, so I want to let them know that anytime you mess up, it's OK to fix it. It's OK to man up and say that you're wrong. I apologize. Hopefully we can sit down and talk privately. Have a good day."
