Earlier this year, chilly Oakland, CA post-punks the Soft Moon delivered their one-sided "Evidence" 7-inch single through Captured Tracks. The next outing from the act increases the tracklisting tenfold, despite being titled Zeros. The album hits October 30 through the imprint.
Unlike the group's 2010 self-titled debut, which a press release explains leader Luis Vasquez "recorded entirely in solitude," this latest ten-song set was written and recorded on the road. Following a six-month incubation period, Vasquez and the rest of the group headed to producer/engineer Monte Vallier's San Francisco studio to track the affair.
Album highlights are said to include the "rumbling eerie epic" and ironically titled opener "It Ends," and the John Carpenter film score-referencing "Remember the Future." You can get an idea of what to expect via a stream of the frightening dark-wave excursion "Die Life" down below.
The Soft Moon begin the Zeros tour cycle a little early, starting their trip in Portland on September 8. The group's North American dates are spread about over a couple legs until December, and will have them in Canada for shows in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. You can peep the itinerary down below.
