Solids Show Off Something 'Else' on New EP

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 4, 2016

Montreal duo Solids broke out with their debut album Blame Confusion in 2014, and now they're ready to share a fresh set of songs on a new EP titled Else. The record will arrive on April 15 in Canada through Dine Alone and elsewhere via Topshelf.

While their debut served as an amalgamation of all of Xavier Germain-Poitras and Louis Guillemette's influences growing up in the hardcore scene, Else hears them incorporating what they've learned after spending a year on the road.

The new songs resonate at a lower frequency, shifting the band into more experimental territory and seek to shatter any perception of the two-piece as proponents of slacker rock.

Channelling a sound that reflects anxiety and alienation, the new songs document "the waiting, the bleary-eyed confusion and the blur of days that come with life on the road."

It can't all be bad, though, as the pair have already announced plans to head back out on tour. See their upcoming shows listed below, and catch them live before the new EP lands this spring.
