Though next week is primed to be a good one for New York noiseniks Sonic Youth, what with the January 25 release of their long-planned French film soundtrack Simon Werner a Disparu, the alt-rock legends are giving their fans cause to celebrate a little early via their new online mixtape.
Pitchfork points to the group putting up a stream of songs from all over their lengthy career, including cuts from the aforementioned film, demos left over from 1988's Daydream Nation and even an acoustic take of "Star Power," the track the troupe played on teen drama Gossip Girl in 2009.
