Spencer Burton

'Don't Let the World See Your Love' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 8, 2014

He was in Attack in Black and has released solo work as Grey Kingdom, but Spencer Burton is embracing his given name for his latest effort Don't Let the World See Your Love. Set to arrive on September 16 through Dine Alone, you can already stream the album here on Exclaim.ca.

The new record sees Burton reunite with his Attack in Black colleague Daniel Romano on production duties. As for the depressing title, Burton offered the following statement:

I've loved many things in my life, none more than music. I've shown so much and in the process lost so much of myself, I've also gained many things to fill the spaces where lost things once lay. It probably sounds like a negative title, in reality what it's saying is be careful of how much you show, when you show it and be careful of who you show it to.

A singer with an obvious knack for storytelling, Burton delivers a charming collection of rootsy Canadiana on the new album. The charm may grow more powerful still for caffeine fiends, as the LP is available for pre-order with a special mug and signature coffee blend from Anchorhead.
