"They Want My Soul" (song snippet)

Though we still don't have the proper details on Spoon's next LP, the beloved indie popsmiths have let loose another song snippet to keep us salivating in the meantime. Though it's unconfirmed whether or not it's the name of a song, the funky video goes by the name "They Want My Soul."

What we see here is the band's name, illuminated in bright neon lights and cast atop late-night street scenes on the ground or across apartment buildings. The tune reveals a tightly wound, conga drum-and-clap-assisted rhythm, a hip-swaying bass groove and some sensual, speaker-panning synth sounds. Britt Daniel's voice is not heard in the teaser, but hopefully the band unveils the tune in full sometime soon.

While the street date for the set has yet to be unveiled, Spoon have some live dates coming up soon, including a stop at Burnaby, BC's CBCMusic.ca Festival on June 14 and an appearance at Toronto's NXNE festival.
