Marking a Squarepusher first, Tom Jenkinson is releasing a live album. However, this isn't your run-of-the-mill live effort: it's played entirely on solo bass guitar.
Aptly titled Solo Electric Bass 1, the record features an unedited live recording of a 2007 show at Cite de la Musique in Paris, where Jenkinson took the stage solo with nothing but a four-stringer in hand. The press release says the "recording of this bare live show has been represented in its truest form, i.e. in one take with no editing afterwards," adding that all the compositions are Squarepusher originals.
Sound intriguing? Sound like way more slap-happy bass action than you could possibly stomach? Well, you can find out for yourself on August 17, when Warp gives this a proper release on CD and digitally.
