Squeeze Challenge Fans to Spot the Difference

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 18, 2010

These days, '80s rockers Squeeze are remembered primarily for their hit "Tempted," which still crops up regularly in soundtracks and television commercials. But as the Shins recently reminded us, the band had plenty of memorable singles back in their prime. Squeeze will now be revisiting these past glories on the new career-spanning album, Spot the Difference, due out August 3 via Anchor and Hope.

The record revisits 14 of the band's past classics, which are presented in chronological order and span from 1978's "Take Me I'm Yours" to 1993's "Loving You Tonight." Rather than your average greatest-hits compilation, the band actually re-recorded each song here. Strangely, Squeeze tried to make these new versions sound as close to the originals as possible. According to a press release, the songs were "re-recorded in a way so painstakingly faithful to the originals that they challenge you to spot the difference."

Squeeze will spend the rest of 2010 touring the U.S. and UK, performing a series of shows with Cheap Trick and later with the English Beat. There are currently no Canadian dates booked. Scroll past the album tracklist to see the schedule.
