There's a huge hype on Static-X right now, what with them getting on the most metal tour of the summer with Slayer, Morbid Angel and Pantera. I figured a personal thumbs up from the cowboys from hell would mean Static-X are more than the nu-metal droop I had them pegged out to be. Looks like I'm wrong, and also left wondering what Vinnie Paul is thinking, as this CD is exactly what you'd expect, which isn't good. Despite the first few seconds of opening track "Get to the Gone" showing promise, the rest of the album slips into the familiar sounds of nu-metal, which, obviously, you've heard before.
