Montreal music makers Stefan Christoff and Nick Schofield have teamed up for a new record titled Rêves Sonores à Montréal, and Exclaim.ca has got your exclusive first listen ahead of the record's December 12 release date.
The project arrives through the city's Howl! Arts Collective and features 12 tonal soundscapes. The idea began with a set of recordings that were made by Christoff with his bother Jordan in Victoria last summer.
A year later, Saxsyndrum's Schofield reworked the songs "using basic tools of musique concrète and synthesis." The result is a pensive sonic journey that grapples with the uncertainty of the future and ever-shifting nature of the present.
The sense of the unknown is conveyed throughout the collection of experimental musical pieces, and you can hear for yourself what that sounds like by giving Rêves Sonores à Montréal a listen below.
The duo will celebrate the record's release with a show at Montreal's Casa del Popolo on December 12. Kyle Bobby Dunn, Pacifique Bleu and Michael Mucci are also on the bill.
