UK combo Still Corners are set to drop their "optimistic" sophomore LP Strange Pleasures on May 7 through Sub Pop, but you won't have to wait for the street date to sample the set, as the band and Exclaim! are offering up a full stream of the LP ahead of time.
As previously reported, the 12-song follow-up to 2011's Creatures of an Hour finds the group moving away from the shoegazing tendencies of their earlier material and towards "'80s-suffused song and studio craft" of the Cocteau Twins and the Cure.
"I think some of the above have probably been an influence — I'm a child of the '80s," songwriter/producer Greg Hughes previously said in a statement. "But I see it principally as a widescreen pop album, clear, with upfront vocals. It's a little epic, but not really retro-futuristic."
Some of those influences come into play on tracks like the pillow-soft dreamscape that is Strange Pleasure's opening number "The Trip," while elsewhere you get the sun-warped synth ballad "Beginning to Blue" or the wispily-sung, Tom Tom Club-indebted retro dance jam "Berlin Lovers."
You can check out all those tracks and more down below.
As previously reported, Still Corners hit North America this spring with Chrvches. You can check the schedule out over here.
UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
