Well, here it is. As promised, Trent Reznor has unleashed his cover of John Carpenter's classic Halloween theme — a redo you can now stream in full.

Appropriately enough, the cover has arrived on October's Friday the 13th, with Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross putting his own spooky stamp on the already spookiest of spooky songs. Listen for yourself below.

In a statement, Reznor said of the cover: "I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the shit genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it's your fault that I turned out the way I did."

Carpenter himself added: "Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' version of Halloween does amazing justice to the original. I'm impressed."

The cover comes through Sacred Bones and Reznor's own Null Corporation. As previously reported, Carpenter's own Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, which also includes a new take on the Halloween theme by Carpenter himself, arrives on October 20 via Scared Bones.

For now, though, let Reznor help you celebrate this Friday the 13th right.
