The Streets' Mike Skinner Walks From England To France

The Streets’ Mike Skinner has hit the road, not for a tour, but rather for a walk from the south of France all the way to England. The MC/producer is making the long trek for a "music video-type music video" for his new track "The Escapist,” which was written for the Rupert Wyatt film of the same name but was rejected.

"The director didn't end up wanting [the track] and that turned out really well," Skinner explained to NME. "The Escapist is a prison break film and so this is a song about how it feels to be in prison, not that I've been in prison, yet."

Via his blog, Skinner said he bears no hard feelings towards Wyatt, and is in fact enjoying the new direction the project has taken.

"For this work of creative moving imagery I have decided to walk to the south of France," he said of his "Escapist” plan. "I will be relaying the highlights of it with you over the next few weeks of my journey. The fuller story will also be told on our new www.beatstevie.com website, but check that at your peril as it currently resembles a building site. From a grey Dover I bid my English and Albion farewell. Long live Michael Palin.”

On the website, Skinner has already started documenting his trip from France to the UK. So far the trip’s highlights include the following: wine, cheese and Connect Four.
