Sufjan Stevens

"Take Me"

Sufjan Stevens has been so petty about typography and grammar lately that we almost forgot why we liked him in the first place. It's probably good timing, then, that he'd drop a previously unreleased demo.

Posting the track "Take Me" to his Tumblr, Stevens called the track a "sloppy lo-fi demo I found on an old hard drive," adding, "it don't go nowhere so don't expect nothing. Love don't go nowhere so don't expect nothing. Quadruple negative, yo. Stay Positive."

Spread out over five and a half minutes, the song slowly unfolds with discount IDM beats and warm synths while Sufjan sings in a falsetto over top. Towards the end, some piano adds an organic element to the otherwise distant-sounding track.
