One week from now, metals fans' stereo speakers will officially be obliterated by the massive sounds of super-heavy supergroup Sumac's sophomore album, What One Becomes. If you want to get wrecked ahead of time, though, the trio's latest is streaming online now.
As previously reported, the new album was tracked at Anacortes, WA's Unknown Studios with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge) and is described as presenting five new "exercises of chaos and control."
We'd earlier been treated to a stream of the epic, slow-motion force of their "Rigid Man," but now you can also tap into the noisy, freeform explosions of intro number "Image of Control," a melding of post-rock melodies and cannon fire kick drum on "Clutch of Oblivion," and the sprawling savageness of the 17-minute "Blackout."
You can sample the Baptists, Old Man Gloom and Russian Circles offshoot's burly and brutal new record below, courtesy of Visions. The album officially arrives June 10 through the group's new label home, Thrill Jockey.
