Aside from a limited repress on Japanese imprint Daymare Records in 2008, oppressive drone masters Sunn 0)))'s sophomore set 00 Void has been pretty hard to find since it was first released in 2000. Lucky for us, esteemed metal imprint Southern Lord, run by the band's guitarist Greg Anderson, has stepped in to solve the problem of the set's scarcity. The label will be reissuing the record this fall.
A press release from the label proudly asserts that "this highly sought-after catalog piece for worshippers of the pulverizing Sunn 0))) drone style will be available again via a proper Southern Lord reissue."
Back in 2000, we praised 00 Void for its "hypnotically slow-flowing" song cycle, which found Anderson and guitarist Stephen O'Malley slingin' detuned, molasses-dripping metal riffs along with album co-conspirators Stuart Dahlquist on bass, Petra Haden on violins and vocals, and with Pete Stahl contributing vocals.
Southern Lord's 00 Void reissue comes out on CD November 22, while a vinyl re-release is planned sometime further down the line.
