Sunn O)))

Much like Dylan Carlson's Earth in their heyday (circa Earth 2), Sunn (O)))) uses overdriven low-end guitar distortion to create ambient drones. The California trio, which features members of both Goatsnake and Thorr's Hammer in its ranks, might even outdo Earth as far as all-out heaviness is concerned. The low-end frequencies created within the three-song, 55-minute EP stands as some of the most dragged-out, bowel-shaking sustained guitar notes ever committed to tape. I cannot wait for the full-length to see how they expand on this.
