T.I. Arrested Outside His Gated Community

T.I. has been charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after being arrested outside his gated community in Henry County, GA, early this morning.

WSB-TV Atlanta reports that the rapper, born Clifford Harris, was returning home to the community at around 4 a.m. local time. The community guard refused to let him in after Harris found he had forgotten his key.

The station reports that Harris asked the guard, "Don't you know who I am?" before calling a friend and continuing to argue. Henry County police were then called to arrest the pair.

Police told WSB-TV that T.I.'s friend had a warrant out for his own arrest. The rapper has since bonded out.

UPDATE (5/16, 2:31 p.m. EDT): T.I.'s lawyer has provided the following statement to WSB-TV Atlanta concerning the arrest:

Tip was wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community — where his wife "Tiny" and his family reside. The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse. It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard. Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry. The guard refused entry.  ip was in contact with "Tiny" by phone and "Tiny" confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately. The guard continued to refuse entry without justification. Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police. When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip.

T.I. recently tried to talk some sense into Kanye West on the latter's "Ye vs. the People."
