Taking Back Sunday

Where You Want To Be

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Sep 1, 2004

Picking up exactly where their debut, Tell All Your Friends, left off, Long Island’s Taking Back Sunday have managed to produce an exact musical duplicate of their successful first release. Without bothering to expand into new musical or lyrical territory, the band stick to the formula that has got them this far — and hey, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? As unadventurous as it is, the melodies remain catchy and the riffs remain driving. Perhaps the musical equivalents of a dinner at Boston Pizza, Taking Back Sunday are like emo’s Backstreet Boys. You want to hate them, but sometimes, you have to admit the songs are pretty good. While it’s nothing that will be worth listening to in nine months, it’ll keep a smile on your face until then.
