Talib Kweli Announces New LP, Gutter Rainbows

Showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, prolific Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli is gearing up for yet another album by year's end. While it's only been four months since the release of his Reflection Eternal project, a collaboration with Hi-Tek, XXL reports that the MC will drop Gutter Rainbows, which he began writing and recording in August, independently sometime before Christmas.

"I'm not on a label right now and it's exciting to just be like, 'You know what, I'm just gonna put this out.' And I've don't that before - I put out Liberation with Madlib and I didn't even tell anybody; one day it was not out, and the next day it was [and] like 100,000 people downloaded that for free," he told XXL after announcing the new record on his Twitter account yesterday morning (September 20).

While Kweli's audience will surely be salivating until Gutter Rainbows's still unspecified release date, there is consolation in the fact that the wordsmith is also expected to put out Community Mixtape, a collection of fan-submitted raps the artist has curated, sometime in the next month.
