Justin LaBo has a way with melody like few other electronic artists. For this reason, regardless of LaBo’s beat explorations into techno, house, drum & bass or dub, what he creates as Technicolor is ultimately pop music. Hard beats enter the mix, but they act as sonic building blocks into what is essentially traditional, and extremely catchy song structures. San Francisco’s Darla label has been a home to this new breed of electro pop and their ambient pop “Bliss Out” series has highlighted some of the most exciting offerings — Normal Control Range is #16 in the series.
