In the wake of Frankie Venom's passing, a tribute concert will be held at the Hamilton Music Awards in honour of the late Teenage Head front-man and all-around punk legend.
As previously reported, the 51-year-old Venom (aka Frank Kerr) passed away last month after losing his battle to throat cancer.
"Needless to say, we were absolutely devastated with the news of Frankie's passing," said festival director Jean-Paul Gauthier in a statement. "We will do our best to make sure that the legacy of Teenage Head and Frankie Venom lives on; we are going to host a huge rock'n'roll-style celebration in their honour."
The remaining Teenage Head band members — Gord Lewis, Steve Mahon and Jack Pedler — along with special musical guests, will all play at the Frankie Venom tribute show during the awards event, which is being held at the Studio at Hamilton Place on November 14. The Forgotten Rebels were scheduled to headline the show but now will take the stage before Teenage Head.
Along with next week's performance, Lewis told CBC Radio 3 that he will soon announce the details of future Venom tribute concerts, as well as other charity initiatives in honour of Venom.
