"You never look at your surroundings," Tei Shi sings in the new video for her Verde track, "See Me." That'd be a shame for whoever she's talking to, especially if they're taking part in the globe-travelling clip that finds the Canadian-born singer exploring parts of Bogotá, Colombia.
A press release notes that the video was shot between Tei Shi's current homebase of New York and Bogotá. As the floaty beat carries out Tei Shi's message, she walks through lush green hills, hugs statues, and hops aboard a street-smart alpaca for a ride around the city. She also stages a private show in a balloon-filled party zone.
"We spent some days exploring Bogotá, the city where I spent most of my childhood and where my mother's side of the family has lived for generations...along the way we found some breathtaking and really unusual settings, which gave the song a totally new life," Tei Shi said in a statement.
She adds: "I wanted to be able to share this part of my identity through my music somehow, so here it is, in me re-discovering a lot of what defines me and my history through the music that has defined me for the past year."
