Thanya Iyer Details New Album 'TIDE/TIED,' Shares "Low Tides"

It's the Montreal artist's full-length follow-up to 2020's 'KIND'

Montreal art pop experimentalist and future-folk provocateur Thanya Iyer has announced her next album, previewed today by lead single "Low Tides."

Arriving April 30 through Topshelf Records, TIED/TIED is Iyer's third full-length album, the follow-up to 2020's KIND and the 2022 EP rest. It was co-produced with multi-instrumentalists Pompey, alongside whom the artist developed the arrangements, as well as percussionist Daniel Gélinas.

Iyer's penchant for bringing spiritual, jazz-inflected instrumental flourishes and soothing ambient frequencies into her resplendent soundscapes emerges in full force on the album's immersive lead single. "'Low Tides' is about moving through those spaces where we lose our ability to dream — drowned in stagnation — numbness — despair — but also continuing to hold the quiet strength, hope, and trust needed to carry us forward," she explained in a press release.
