When Toronto label We Are Busy Bodies announced its 20th anniversary festival last fall, the Elwins were curiously included on the bill despite the fact that the Keswick, ON-formed indie pop troupe had broken up in 2022 after more than a decade together. The event took place at the Garrison over the weekend, and the band not only returned, but have now released their first new song in three years, "Isle of My Own."
The original quartet of Feurd (who has recently been touring with Valley), Matthew Sweeney, Frankie Figliomeni (a.k.a. Francesco) and Travis Stokl (a.k.a. sivarT) took the stage at the Garrison, joined by producer Derek Hoffman (Brighter Brightest). It's unclear as of yet whether Hoffman is a permanent lineup addition — or if the Elwins have plans to tour and/or release more new music, for that matter. But still! How nostalgic and fun.
You can listen to the anthemic new single "Isle of My Own" below, which sways between mid-tempo melancholy and a holler-along, horn-backed chorus.
