Tragedy has struck the long-running rock group the Afghan Whigs, as their veteran guitarist Dave Rosser has been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer.

To raise funds for Rosser's medical bills, the Afghan Whigs are performing their album Black Love in its entirety. The benefit shows will take place in New Orleans at the Civic on December 10 and in Los Angeles at the Teragram Ballroom on December 14.

In a statement, the Afghan Whigs' Greg Dulli said, "Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now. By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. 100% of the proceeds for these shows will go to his medical care. I'm hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us."

In addition to the Afghan Whigs, Rosser has also performed with Gutter Twins, Twilight Singers and his own band the Get Busy.

As previously reported, the Afghan Whigs' Black Love is being reissued for Record Store Day's Black Friday event.
