The Decemberists Reschedule 20th Anniversary Tour to 2021

After being forced to postpone their 20th anniversary tour, the Decemberists have rescheduled the run for next summer.

Due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, the band have moved their "Twenty Years Before the Mast" tour to 2021, with the trek kicking off in late July. The Decemberists announced the new dates on their website earlier today, including their rescheduled Toronto concert, which will now take place on August 12, 2021. 

The message reads:

As you might remember from previous emails, there was some discussion over whether or not 2020 was *in fact* the 20th Anniversary of The Decemberists. Did the band start out in 2000? Or was 2001 our proper debut? There are recollections of Decemberists shows happening in 2000 in some form, and yet our first website and logo proclaimed us "Est. 2001" — for reasons lost to time. Well, we're happy to report that that controversy is settled once and for all, and it only took a global pandemic to do so. And so: Twenty Years Before the Mast, The Decemberists' 20th Anniversary Tour will be coming to your town in the summer of 2021, not this summer.

Fruit Bats will no longer accompany the band on tour. A new supporting act is expected to be announced shortly. 

Ticketholders are being given the choice to hold onto their tickets or opt for full refund, in the event that they can no longer attend the concert. More information on that can be found at the Decemberists' website.

All purchased tickets will be automatically honored for the new date. If you can't make it, or circumstances have changed and you just want a refund — we've got you! You'll receive an email notification from your ticketing company, giving you instructions on how to receive a full refund for your ticket. (Alas, Fruit Bats are unable to join us next summer. We'll announce an alternate support down the line.) Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by COVID-19 — to those who have been ill themselves or have lost loved ones to the illness — and we send our endless thanks and appreciation to those of you who are on the front line of this scourge: you doctors, nurses, delivery drivers, teachers, and caregivers. We'll see you in 2021.
