Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the National's self-titled debut album, and the band are celebrating the milestone by remastering several of their earliest records. New versions of The National, 2003's follow-up Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, and 2004 EP Cherry Tree are set for release on February 26 via 4AD.
This isn't the first time these three records have been reissued — the band's original label, Brassland, reissued The National and Sad Songs in 2010 and Cherry Tree the following year. These new, 4AD-helmed reissues were all remastered at the famed Abbey Road Studios.
The three releases chart the band's evolution from melancholic folk rockers into the barnstorming alt-rockers that lit up the indie world with 2004's breakthrough album, Alligator.
