The Thermals Sign To Kill Rock Stars, Ready New Album For April

Following an amicable departure from Sub Pop, fun-loving punkers of the Thermals have announced they’ve inked a deal with Kill Rock Stars. On April 7, the Portland-based indie is scheduled to release the band’s fourth album, which now has the title Now We Can See, with the leadoff seven-inch "When I Died" due out a bit earlier on March tenth.

"Kill Rock Stars pursued us very aggressively and made us a great offer,” the Thermals’ Hutch Harris recently told Pitchfork, adding: "The plan is to sign papers, cash cheque, leak record. Please don't tell them.”

Along with the new label, the Thermals also announced they’ve finally found a new drummer. Westin Glass, who most recently played with Seattle's Say Hi, has joined the group behind the kit and is set to play on their John Congleton-produced follow-up to 2006’s The Body, The Blood, The Machine.

The band have several tour dates set for December; however, none are in Canada. Don’t worry though, if the Thermals don’t have a date yet scheduled for your hometown, Harris says: "There will be massive amounts of shows next year, and the next, for sure.”

For now, here are the shows confirmed so far:
