Dan Boeckner's new Operators project made their Canadian debut last night (May 8) as they kicked off their three-date residency at Toronto's Silver Dollar Room. The Canadian indie rock icon flexed more than new tunes, though, dipping into his annals with a run-through of Wolf Parade's "This Heart's on Fire," with the Japandroids boys lending a helping hand.
With Brian King handling the big rock chords of the classic cut, Boeckner is left to clutch at his chest and sing his ass off throughout the charged-up pseudo cover. Beats are bashed out, keyboards are sent soaring, and onetime Hot Hot Heat bassist Dustin Hawthorne smiles his way through the song while delivering the low end.
You'll see the triumphant display in a fan shot video down below.
Operators will play the Silver Dollar Room again tonight (May 9) and tomorrow evening, as part of CMW.
